It's Finished!!! And A New Project!!

The wedding present is finally finished with less than 2 weeks to go. I'll be making the card to go with it tomorrow and can't wait to get back into card making.

I also made this little project while watching tv this past week for Melody. She loves butterflies and bugs and I think this is a pretty little quote. Can't wait to find a frame or something for it.

Almost Finished

It's almost finished!!! I have a few more hours of work to go on it with some outlining some details but I'm so stoked that it's almost finished. I'm heading upstairs to make a card, my littlest one is having a nap so off to take advantage of that time!!!

Update On Cross Stitch Project

And we have more progress!!! I have some tv to catch up on tonight so my goal is to get all the lettering done and some clouds. Then I am TOTALLY going to take advantage of my mom being here for Easter and ditch the kids on her so I can dedicate some time on this project!!

I can't wait to get back to making cards, just all my crafting time has been put into this project for now.

Cross Stitch Project I Mentioned

Here is the cross stitch project that has been taking up all my card making time. I've got a lot still left to do but here it is so far. You can finally tell that the white blobs on there are supposed to be sheep lol. I'm working on the very lower right hand corner atm with grass and stuff. I'll update with another picture soon when I get some more progress done on it.

I've been super busy and haven't had much time to get any cards made lately. I've been spring cleaning and am taking advantage of "wanting" to clean the house while I can. I have also been busy with a cross stitch project for an upcoming wedding. I will take a picture of it later tonight when I get more done and will show you the progress. By the time it is finished, I will have put in around 80 hours into it. My friends are getting married May 1st so I wanted to start it early. It's one of my favourite hymns; Just As I Am. =D

I've also been working on some new scriptures on the computer and did 4 today. When I get more paper to print them out, I'll make some cards with them.

Days 68 - 69 ~ An Order

I've spent the past couple of days finished up this A-dorable order for a little girl's teaparty birthday party. I ran out of ink and couldn't get any until yesterday so here they are. The stamp is by Stamping Bella and her name is Scarlett.

Here are the little place cards I made to match. I made an extra one for my folder and put Melody's name on it so you would get an idea of just how cute these were. I haven't gotten to craft today so no card or Dee's Thursday Tip for today. I'll update tomorrow with both those posts.

Day 67 CM47 ~ Colour Challenge

Another colour challenge over on CPC. You had to use pinks and a touch of yellow. I got this digi stamp free from Bugaboo Stamps and she is SO adorable, they have different new ones every Friday, so head on over and get them while you can. Even if you don't think you will use them as a stamp, they are great printed out for little kids to colour in.

Day 66 ~ Sunday Bookmarks!!!

I had these scraps left over from the tea party invites, after punching out the big circles. So, thought I'd make some bookmarks. They are embossed on the front and decorative on the back with swirls of different colours.

I then lamined them and put pretty beads on the ends.

Day 64 ~ FOF43 ~ Spring Flowers Challenge

And another challenge over on CPC, this one was to use either a die cut flower or a handcut flower and make it springy. This was fun to make. If you look above the little flowers you can sorta tell it's supposed to look like clouds. I think my little flowers are just so stinking adorable!!!

Dee's Thursday Tips ~ Let's Talk Paper Cutters!!!

Today I would like to talk about my experience with paper cutters. I've used a bunch of different kinds and this post is about my preference of them.

First there is the Fiskars Cutter. I used to have 2 of these and used them for years. I didn't do much paper cutting, so I didn't go through a lot of blades. This type of cutter works well if you don't cut paper too often. I only have one now as I gave the other away when I bought my Martha Stewart one. It was the 12 x 12 and had a little arm that extended out of it.

When the blade gets dull, you replace the little orange part with a new one. You know it's getting dull when the paper starts to fray on the sides. I've been experimenting with this one on scrap pieces of paper and after a week of use, I've changed the blade 2 times. I had 2 blades left and so this one will be donated as only using it for one week doesn't suit me well.

Also, they have changed the Fiskars cutters and they have new blades that don't fit with the old ones. So, while I like other Fiskars products, this type of paper cutter is not for someone who cuts multiple slices of paper during the day.

When I started making my Christmas cards last year, I youtubed different paper cutters to see what I might like. I instantly liked the Martha Stewart one because of the arm that extends out. It's not just a little arm, but the whole thing opens up and you can move the arm to whatever measurement if you have lots of a certain cut to make.

It is the same type of cutter as the Fiskars and you go through blades really quickly and I just couldn't keep up with the maitenance of it. It also has an scoring tip that I LOVE. I am keeping this cutter around just for that reason until I can afford a scor-pal.

So, I like it for the scoring ability but not so much on the cutting, it goes through blades really quickly.

So, a little story ... I was doing the christmas craft at my daughter's school with her former kindergarten teacher and then the other ones. It was a super cute calendar where you used the kids handprints to make different pictures and a poem went with it. You can see the project here. I tried to cut it in the martha stewart one and it was a no go. I couldn't use the cutter at the school because I'm not insured if there is an accident, so I wanted to buy another cutter. Hubby said nope, no money honey, and suggested I ask my father in law if I could borrow his. So, I did.... and that is when I fell in love with the rotary blade cutter. The only problem with his is that he needed to replace the blade if it got dull, but after 400 cuts, it was still cutting like a knife through warm butter.

About a month later, I was making valentine's and whined enough that my cutter sucked that Daniel took me out to look at cutters. I had a 50% off coupon for Michael's and the Making Memories one caught my eye because it's a full 12 x 12, had a magnetic ruler for making those multiple cuts (you just put the ruler down and place the paper edge against it) AND!!!! it's SELF SHARPENING !!! I have been using this everyday and I've had to have made atleast 5,000 cuts with it and it still cuts perfectly. It was $60.00 originally so for $30.00, why not??!!

The only thing that I could see being a problem is if I wanted to take it somewhere for a crop. It's big and bulky but I would deal with it. I'll take big and bulky over frayed paper anyday. I have definately earned my money's worth with it and it's such a great cutter.

Day 62 ~ More Thank You Cards

I had a nap and am just getting to post this now. hehe Today I made some thank you/thinking about you/anything you want it to be cards. I have this really pretty set of stamps that have the words beauty, fly and dream on them. So, I thought they would make a cute set. I am LOVING the challenges over on Christian Paper Crafts. Today is working with a sketch they provide for you. So, here is my card.

I have bypassed this poor green paper so many times, it's a limeish green and not really my first choice. I made it a challenge to use this paper as well today and I am thrilled about how this card turned out!! It's so spring like and I can't wait for spring and to be rid of this snow.... atleast another month. hehe

My Craft Nook Part 1 ~~ IT'S FINALLY DONE!!!!!!

IT'S DONE!!!! IT'S DONE!!!!! Can you believe it??? It's only taken me... .how.... many months to get this craft nook together??? BUT .... IT'S DONE!!!!!!

Here is what it looked like when it was Ruby's nook and you can see where the bed was. AiAi has been really destructive and I didn't want him to ruin Ruby's things, so I've moved some things out of his reach and packed some things away and will bring them out when he's old enough to understand how precious they are to us.

SO...... without further delay!!!! Here is MY CRAFT NOOK!!!!!!! =D

I've seperated showing it to you into 6 sections/posts that make sense to me, so enjoy checking out my Happy Place!!

This is the dresser that used to be in our closet. It now holds fabric and crochet stuff.

The brown letter sorter on top has all kinds of little sewing notions in nice little categories. I have my sewing machine on the right side, ironing board and iron on the left side. The ironing board is right beside the door.

Here is the top of the dresser. I'll tell you what things are in the following pictures.

Left side of drawers has all fabrics in it. I have a few more to wash and put away.

The bottom drawer has purse projects and stuffing. Then the 2 top drawers have some yarn (which I need some more colours of) and crochet hooks. Back in there somewhere are some knitting needles, I gave up on knitting again, who wants to come for a visit and teach me to knit??

I crochet hats for Sick Kids Hospital, primarily for the PICU (pediatric intensive care unit) and Cancer Ward. You can see my blog I've dedicated to Ruby here. Please do all that you can to help these children. If you don't knit, crochet or sew, think of finding a group who does and donate yarn to them. We are always in need of yarn. I make about 250-300 hats a year and it can get really expensive. I will always accept donate wool. Please leave me a comment with your email if you would like to send some. Just keep in mind that it has to be soft for their little heads, especially the precious ones in the cancer ward.

Very top is my stuff for making Italian Charms.
Middle are beads and jewellery stuff.
Bottom are all the tags and things that go on my donated hats.

I've had this vase for a really long time but because Daniel is sensitive to flowers, we never have them in the house, it really bugs his allergies and asthma. Well!!! I found a use for it. It houses my clothespins and rods for when I make korker bows.

You will also meet Ginger, the mad money saver. Isn't she adorable?? She helps me save money hehe. Melody found that little box of hummingbird pencil crayons and gave it to me. Isn't she a sweetie??

Bottom are my itty bitty skinny ribbons and ones from packages or presents we've received.

Craft Nook Part 2

Here we go onto the paper area!!! Which is pretty much almost all of my craft nook.

Beside the dresser is this shoe organizer that has 2 baskets with stamps/glues. The shelf below are my chalks, little squares of papers and misc things. Below that is the power cord and pedal to my sewing machine. The purple and green container has all my ribbons for my hair bows. I'll have to show that sometime just for fun.

This is my inspiration board. You'll see a little glass hummingbird hanging near it, I have 3 of them in the room and we collect them now because of Ruby. She never talked but she would hum her sentences. My daughter Melody said that Ruby was like a hummingbird and there is a ruby throated hummingbird, so we collect them now. =D

I put things that inspire me and goals (ahem pink slice) I am working towards.

This is the shelving unit of paper craftage!!!! I'll go into more detail with the pictures below.

On the very top, on the left is my 12" x 12" box that has extra supplies in it that I use regularly. On top of that are my copic marker refills. Beside those are my finished cards. I don't have a better home for them, so this container works well and keeps the dust off of them.

The shelf below going from left to right.....

My containers of embossing powders. They each have their own little spoon and I find it much easier to hold the image in the box and sprinkle on some powder, then flick so the powder goes right back into the container.

The two boxes hold stamped images that haven't been coloured in yet. When I stamp, I always make a few extra stamped images for later on. Next is baby wipes, you can never have too many baby wipes!! Then there is temp adhesive and rubbing alcohol behind the pink container that holds my decorative scissors and beside that is my circle cutter.

The next two shelves are my fun shelves. The top one in the picture is where I take my photos of my cards. I took thick thick bristol board stuff (but like styrofoam only more durable) and cut it to size. On the left side are little bottles that used to have body lotions and stuff in it, now they have little glittery flowers hehe. On the right are my tim holtz inks and some sickles glittery heavenliness!!! The effect of glitter without the mess... ahhh.....

Below that shelf is my paper storage. You can see the post I did about it here. The binders that are on that shelf hold my past card ideas and my full stamped images so I can just flip through the binder and decide what I want to stamp with.

The bottom shelves host my stamps in cd cases and on that same shelf are some cute photo albums that need some homes at some point. On the very bottom are my magazines. I just purged through a bunch of them so there are a few empty magazine holders. On the very far right are all of my cross stitch patterns and books.

Craft Nook Part 3

You will notice in this part of my nook that I have left Ruby's quilt up. This is a very special memorial quilt some very special mama's at CHF made shortly after Roo passed away. This is a picture of it when this part of the room was my Ruby nook.

In front of her quilt I have 2 microwave carts pushed together. It was hard to take a picture of because of the table being right there hehe.

On the bottom are some 12" x 12" containers holding various things. The top shelf has Melody's bin (it contains all her scrapbooking stuff), solid cardstock and small scraps (which at the moment is a bunch of loose papers still needing to be filed). On the bottom shelf are baby, designer (full 12" x 12" sheets) and christmas stuff. There are also black single accordian folders that contain different kinds of stickers.

On this side of the cart are my paper cutters and scoring stuff. On the bottom is all my cross stitch things. That's another thing I really enjoy doing is cross stitch.

And here is the top of that. On the left is my scrap paper storage unit. Here is a link to the post about how I got the idea for this system. It works really well for me and I grab for these folders so often that I am not wasting anymore paper sorting around trying to find little pieces.

Next to the scrap paper bin is another 12" x 12" container and it hosts my orders and current projects I am working on. Always nice to keep things in one area.

I took the lid off of one of the bins so you could see what is inside. These boxes have different envelopes and pre-cut cards ready to be folded up. The top is my 3" x 3" box, then there is a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" box and then a 6 1/2" x 5" box. I make all of my own envelopes now so I mass produce them when I do. I often watch tv and get busy with this kind of thing. Then I don't have to make an envelope when an order comes in because they are already made. =D

Craft Nook Part 4

Now onto my table. I haven't cleaned up from the card I made today. I always make 2 of the same card and keep one in a binder that shows how I made that particular card. I'll be posting about that on Dee's Thursday Tips this week, so stay tuned for that.

The table that I craft on is a fold away table. So, I can have either one side up, both sides up, or close it down to a little rectangle when I vaccuum, I adore it. The picture shows it with both sides up. I'd still like to get a pink computer chair for this area because the fold up chair that comes with it... well it's uncomfieish even with a seat cushion. hehe

Now I sit on the left side of the table and on the right side is my blue cubbie. It holds those things that I am always looking for. The top 2 drawers are smaller and the bottom 2 are deeper.

This is the bottom drawer. It has a box with my most commonly used stamps, you know the ones you find yourself drawn to time and time again no matter how many stamps you have!!

Next deep drawer up is currently housing only my heat gun. Don't have anything else to go in there yet, works for me.

This little drawer at the moment is holding just some paper scraps that haven't found a home yet. I don't know what it will be in the end.

Ahhh!!! My top drawer!!! It contains all the stuff I grab for everyday. It has my most used stamp pads, glue pens, dimensionals, painters tape (which is GREAT for holding down paper temporarily when I'm using my circle cutter), and all my other adhesives and glues.

I have a little cubbie that I got at Michael's and don't remember who makes it. It has 6 side spots, 3 drawers, 1 frame area, a place to hang stuff and an elasticy holdy area. In the middle area I keep my chic stand and paper piercer.

These spots hold my markers and commonly used jelli pens and the other one has my glue dots and adhesive runner.

This part holds my acrylic blocks for stamping, my jelli pens, bone folder and embossing stylus.

Overe here we have scissors. You'll note that the purple pair has a ribbon on it. This tells me that this pair are my tape cutting ones. They are gummed up with glue etc, and get cleaned once a week. Behind the scissors are my different kinds of rulers. In front, I have my tweezers, mist sprayers and quilling tool. ~~ The other side hosts my copics.

And here is the chair that is from my husband's grandma from the 70's. It's an aswesome chair, really well built and still very comfie. We have the matching 3 seat sofa in our living area. You will see on the wall there is a picture of my darling daughter Ruby. That was the last summer she was with us up in Muskoka. It's a pixel project that took about 50 hours to do. Craft Nook Part 5

Beside my reading chair, I have my book/resource/embellishment shelving unit. This is what it looks like overall.

On the very top are some of my fav cards, and hey lookie!!! It's the card that is on my current giveaway sitting up there!!! I'm sad to see it go but she is too cute to just keep around. So, head on over to my Bugaboo blog and enter for a chance to win her. The giveaway ends on this Friday, March the 5th.

On the top shelf are my embellishments!!!!! yeah for pretty stuff to put on your cards!!! In a little bit I'll show you what is in there but first... the rest of the shelving unit!

Here are my books and binders with patterns, ideas, and all that jazz. This is also where I store my acrylic paints. On the bottom shelf are more binders and my 8" x 8" empty scrapbooks for presents. I digital scrapbook and print out the pages and they make great presents for family. =D

Now!!! Onto the GOOD stuff!!!! In the bottom drawer of this unit we have my brads, lovely little pretty brads to hold other great embellishments together on my cards. I have a weakness for them and would totally buy more if hubby didn't have me on a budget. Bad hubby... just kidding.

The next drawer up are for my eyelets. I keep all of my little embellies in these little jars with snap lids that I got from the dollar store. I got a cropadile for Christmas and really like adorning things with eyelets.

The middle shelf have little hearts from when I went on a binge with my Martha Stewart punch. Those are in a different drawer. Look at all those pretty colours. I plan on buying some acetate and making shaker cards with these pretty little hearts!

Next drawer up is my bling bling compartment. I have these in itty bitty baggies cause they don't fit so well in the little plastic thingies.

And the drawer on top are my BUTTONS!!!!! I don't craft very often with buttons but I sure do love to look at them and sort them. I really should do more with buttons. hehe

In between my 2 containers, I have my flower petals. I got these at the dollar store and specifically look for little flowers that would look good on cards. I then take them apart and put them in these cute containers that used to house my markers. Now I can mix and match my flower parts; like on my card today for the Monday Colour Challenge. Those are from 3 different flowers and look how pretty they are. I have 4 containers total and the total money I paid in flowers was $10.00, whooo hoooo!

Here is the bigger container. In the bottom are little alpha's that came with a paper pad I bought at Christmas time. I have most of them sorted by specific letter, but there were a few that needed to be the whole alpha together.

There is nothing in the middle drawer... yet... but here is the top drawer with all those Pretty heart border from that Martha Stewart punch I mentioned. Look at how CUTE they are. Now to find something to put them on hehe

I couldn't get a good picture of the contents of this box while it was on the shelving unit. It sits on top of the bigger unit and it has these great flowers of all sizes. This is 3 packages worth of flowers from the dollar store. This container holds 100 4" x 6" photos, that's what it's supposed to be used for, but this is a cuter idea, don't ya think??

Craft Nook Part 6

Here are the last pieces of my nook to show you. As you can see in the first photo, my night stand is on the right and well..... the bed is right beside it. lol This is my bookcase that will eventually house my favourite novels. I don't know what hubby did with the shelves so I can't put the books on there yet. Most of them are hanging out in the closet on the top shelf. hehe

This is my create sign that I made awhile back and my Twilight calendar... which now that I look at it, I need to change it, cause Emmett is for February.... oh May come soon so I can see my Jasper. /blush

I promise you that my punches are level. I just apparently can't take a picture of a door properly. So, even though they look like they are sloping in an easternly direction, I promise you that they are straight. I got these racks at Ikea, I have the 21 inch length ones and they were only 3 bucks each!!! They are just like towel racks but you get them in the kitchen section and they are closer to the wall.

Well thank you for looking at my craft nook. It's been a long process getting it all set up, but it's been this way for a few weeks and I'm finally starting to get things organized and working how I like it.

I joined a new forum last night called Christian Paper Crafts. It's a really neat little site with a great forum. This is my card for the Color Challenge today called My Little Sunshine. You were only allowed to use the colours yellow white/cream and one other colour. I thought it was great because I used to sing you are my sunshine to Ruby every night and how awesome is it that the first thread I open after my intro is called My Little Sunshine!!!

So, here is my card. It was a big challenge for me to not add more colours and to really think about what to do that could add texture with just those colours.

Day 59 ~ Revised A Few Cards

Sundays are my days to "rest" on the sabbath, anyone with small children know that means you get to sleep in for an extra half hour if you're lucky. So, I don't get much time to do crafting.

I've had these little cards around for awhile and they didn't have the insides finished, so I will be fixing up my baby cards on Sundays and posting them in my Etsy Store. There is only one of these particular cards and I don't have the supplies to make another of it, so if you like it you better hurry on over. =)

Day 58 ~ Saturday Edition

Wow! I got a card done on a Saturday and it's not even 3pm yet. Usually I don't get much of a break on Saturdays but Aizen (pronounced eye zen) was fascinated with his wooden Thomas the Train set and I got to get this card done. I set it up in my nook so he could come see me for kissies when he wanted.

So, here's my card for today. This is one of my favourite stamps and I had so much fun glittering up the wings on the bee.

Since I didn't get to this last week, I'll give it a go this week. 2 weeks ago I shared how I keep track of what cardstock comes from what place. Now I'll show you how I store all those papers. Since I'm a cardmaker and do digital scrapbooking, I don't have a huge need for 12" x 12" solid cardstock. I tend to buy mine in 8.5" x 11". The solid cardstock that I do buy in 12" x 12" (there are a few because I just love the texture of them) will usually get cut down into a 8.5" x 11" size.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

I have them in different containers. These are rubbermaid magazine holders, I happened to find these ones at the dollar store. I prefer them over the ones I have on my bottom rack (I'll share those another time when I get my craft nook all finished =D) because the front panel is higher up and keeps the papers in there more securely.

They are sorted by brand and then by colour. I don't mix brands even if they are the same shade of colour. For me, it makes it too hard to remember what paper belongs to what brand. On the left are my solids by 3 different companies. The far 2 are by the same one and the others are different.

On the right side are 1. a collection of 8" x 8" pad I got because it was more masculine and some inserts from 8" x 8" scrapbooks, 2. a collection of super cute girly designs that I got on sale for $2.00 each and bought 10 of them (each paper pack came with 36 papers!!!!) and the last bin has the cardstock that I print on for my digital stamps.

I wanted to show off my favourite girly papers, I don't know what I will do when I run out of them because they don't sell this paper pack anymore. /cry

I thought I would show a shot of how I know what company they come from. I keep one sheet from each pack and put it in the side for easy reference.

Day 53 ~ Tea Party Invite Demo

So this post is going to be super picture heavy. I am working on a joint birthday party for a couple of sweet little girls who will be having a tea party. So, here are the sample invitations I have made and am just waiting on what decisions the mama makes and I'll get right on them.

Here are the pink options for the main card. I didn't want to make 2 cards so the first one has the flap from the back to show the different ways to make it. I handstamped the little daisy on in pink and then white ink.

Here is what the card looks like when you open it. It's a slider card and I got the idea from a Hero Arts video on youtube and thought it would be perfect for this invitation. The 2nd picture is the back side of the invitation. Ignore the little hole on the wrong side of the sample, I punched it wrong and didn't feel the need to make a new one since it's a sample card.

This is the other option of a purple card base with the same colour of pink inside. The daisy is again handstamped in a purple then white ink.

Here is what the inside of the invite will look like. I need to tweak the actual invitation a bit and have the writing a little more to the right and not so centered b/c of where the hole is to make it a slider card. That's what I learned about making things with a hole in them. hehe

This is Lily and she is a fairy from Pink Cat Studios, she's a digital stamp and I A-dore the stamps from this place. I made her 3 different ways and in each pair the the colours of the wings and the big heart are either a pink or blue. Also the heart on the antanae, the hearts on the dress and the heart on the cupcake all match in each pairing. I then used my sickles glitter to accent parts.

The next set of stamps are from Stamping Bella and this is Scarlett. I had SO much fun at her store last week while hubby was on vacation and picked her up. She is A-dorable!!!! I did each of the pairing similar but different teacup colours in pink and blue.

Time To Get Back On Track

Well I got a bit off track with doing my card a day because of having our daughter's death anniversary, getting really sad and depressed over that, having my hubby home on vacation and sick kids.... so, I'm back to card making. Day 42 ~ Dee's Thursday Tips

Today I wanted to show you a little thing I do with my cardstock.

I like to buy colour group packs and they come in 8 1/2" x 11" and are usually 5 different colours to a pack. Here are an example of two that I really like. I have several that have various shades of blues or pinks. Once they come out of the package they go into one of my holders based on colour and shade.

If you think about that, all the colours mixed in together, when one runs out I would probably have a hard time remembering what paper pack it came from. The sheet that comes with it is glossy and not exactly the easiest to match things up with. So... here is what I do .....

When I get a new pack of paper, I use my 1 1/2 " scallop punch (I just adore the scallop shape) to cut out a shape of each cardstock. When I get one of each colour, I put the name of the paper pack and company at the top of my reference paper.

In the right hand corner (just click the picture to make it bigger), I write down where I bought it, how much it was, how many papers there are, what the size is and how many of each colour.

If you look at the first set of colours, you will notice that there is a little bit of writing under the middle circle. That tells me that the pink there is the same as the one in the south beach cardstock pack.

This is what it looks like in my binder. When the paper runs out, I just have to match it up to the colour in the binder. It also comes in handy when I am wanting to use a designer paper, I can just hold it up to the little samples and see if it will look good or not. This is also my binder that has all my stamped image examples. I'll be doing that as next weeks thursday tips.

Hope this little tip helps you to keep things more organized so you can run out to the store when your favourite colour runs out and you're in the middle of an order. hehe

I made something a little different yesterday. It didn't photograph well last night so I took the picture today.

A mama on my forums was just blessed with the adoption of a little baby girl named Ellie. I wanted to make her something special. This is a 8" x 10" handstamped paper with Ellie's name on it. I'll be sending it out on Friday and I really hope that they like it.

Finally got all of Melody's class valentine's done.... well almost done... I still need to put a Happy Valentine's Day on the back and have her sign them. Her party is on Friday and I had a lot of fun making these.

I have a stencil that I used and then handcut each petal. Glued them in the middle, then used my piercing tool to make a hole big enough to get the lolli through. Don't they just look yummer-licious ?????!!!!?????

Day 38 ~ Another Cute Itty Bitty Bette Pixie

This weekend I went on a tv catch up and colouring spree and coloured a bunch of these Itty Bitty Bette pixies. Isn't she just the cutest little thing?? I added a brad and sparkled it up in the middle of her flower.

The inside sentiment says "all you need is love", I really like that stamp.

This card is so much prettier than the picture. It's a nice black with yellow accent paper. The flowers and sentiment are actually a light blue. This was a hard card for me to make, I had to calculate and really use math to make it work. Then it got hard to place the little squares with the one corner cornered, that threw me off. BUT I finally got it to work. hehe

I had a rough weekend. The 13th of this month will be the 3 year anniversary since our daughter Ruby's death. I've made a few cards but didn't really feel like taking pictures and updating etc.

So, here are a couple of cards I made wiht the Thursday tutorial with the different cuts of paper. I made the same ones for Friday as well, so I'll post those in a couple of minutes.

Day 35 ~ Dee's Thursday Tips

Today I'm going to talk about making a card from a 8.5" x 11" piece of cardstock and getting 2 cards out of each paper. If you cut them different ways, you can get 2 kinds of cards, both measuring 5 1/2" x 4 1/4". =)

First, here are my 2 pieces of cardstock that I will be cutting today. I'm wanting to make some masculine cards over the next few days so when I am done with this tip, I'll have 4 card bases ready to go and don't have to cut them.

I'm going to start with the brown cardstock. It measures 8 1/2 inches from side to side. You divide the 8 1/2 inches by 2 and it's 4 1/4 inches. So, I lined the left side of the card up to the 4 1/4 inch mark.

Here is a close up of where it is at the 4 1/4 inch mark.

Now cut your paper and you have two pieces. I'll show you how this way folds up in a little bit.

Here is the next piece of cardstock. It measure 11 inches going from top to bottom. Turn your paper so that the 11 inches now goes from left to right on the cutter. Divide the 11 inches by 2 and it's 5 1/2 inches. Line the left side of your paper at the 5 1/2 inch mark.

Here is a closeup to show you the 5 1/2 mark.

Cut your paper and as before you have 2 pieces.

I've folded the cards up and you can see that they are both the same size. They are both 5 1/2 inches x 4 1/4 inches.

Here they are when unfolded. As you can see the blue cardstock looks different. This is how your traditional card looks. The brown card is longer on the sides and will give a different effect. I can't wait to get started on these cards and show you how you can do something similar with a card but how it looks different depending on how you cut and fold your card.

The thing I really like about using this method of cutting is that you don't waste any paper. I tend to buy my paper in the 8.5" x 11" paper packs because it works better with my storage system. I use plastic magazine holders that I bought at the dollar store and they are perfect for holding my papers. It's open and I can just leaf through my papers and get the piece I want. I don't have to spend extra time cutting a 12" x 12" paper to make my card base.

Day 34 ~ Now For The Card =)

This kids went to bed well, so I was able to whip this card together. This is another digi stamp by Pink Cat Studios and her name is Itty Bitty Betty and she's adorable. I have done her with a few different haircolours (on other stamps, I'll make cards out of those eventually) and I think she looks adorable in her pixie pink.

With her skin tone and cheeks, those are the two new copics I got today.
Here is a breakdown of the colours on her and the markers I used:

Skin tone ~ copic E93 tea rose
Cheeks ~ copic R22 light prawn and then I put in freckle highlights and on her eyes with my white jelly pen
Wings and Dress ~ Copic 100 black and Copic R27 cadium red
Hair ~ Marvy LePlume II no 9 pink
Flower ~ no 9 pink again and Marvy LePlumeII no 10 lt. blue (also her headband was done in this colour) and the little stem is a Marvy LePlume II no 11 lt. green

Day 34 ~ My New Copic Markers

So, I bought this little lady bug digi stamp from Pink Cat Studio, I was having fun colouring in a bunch of them when I ran out of red... oh no!!!! can't have a ladybug without red. I already had the pink flower done on all of them.

I've been wanting to try out the copic markers for a long time now. I've seen many tutorials on youtube and awesome pictures from other people. So, today was hubby's day off and I went to our local art supply store. They didn't have the copic sketch markers I want, so I got the copic ciao ones instead. The colour isn't as intense or bright as the original, but if you click on the picture to see just how well the coverage is on it.

The original marker is on the left and the copic is on the right. I am loving my new copic marker. I also got a few skin tones and I'll show you a picture of my fairy from Pink Cat Studio as well a little later tonight. I just have to take a picture of her. She has some glitter on her and I'm still fiddling with how not to get a glare. If I can't figure it out, I'll take a picture of her anyway and share it so you can see the skin tone with her cute cheeks.

If I get time later today I'll make a card with the little fairy.

Day 33 ~ Finally Updated

Whenever I stamp an image, I always make a few extras. Some in case of a boo boo and some to put it in the extras bin so if I want to use the image again; it will save me time cause I won't need to stamp it again.

I bought some stickles (fun glitter glue stuff) and decided to outline the circle with a pink one.

Dee's Thursday Tips ~ My Scrap Paper Bin

I thought I would start something new for Thursdays. I'm going to be doing Dee's Thursday Tips. These will be tips I have found useful as I'm learning cardmaking. Some of it you may already know but I'm going to share them anyway. ;P

So, today I will be sharing what I am doing right now. I'm reorganizing my scrap paper bin. Anyone who scrapbooks or makes cards will have a plentiful stash of leftover scrap pieces. My current system is totally not working. So, time to revamp!!

I have 3 bins that are 12x12 and organized in these categories:

1. solid cardstock
2. large cardstock pieces
3. small cardstock pieces

This is an example of what my bin looks like. Look at all those papers, and I'll tell you when I'm looking for a smaller piece of paper, it sure is time consuming to look through all those papers to find what I need.

So.... here is what I have done:

I had a bunch of 8.5" x 11" file folders that I was going to use for Aizen's lap games and games to make for him. Since he is still destructive, I'll buy more file folders in the summer and get some of those made. I bought these in a box of 100 at staples.

Here I have measured them out to cut at 8 inches. That cuts off the main flappy part at the top and makes it almost a perfect rectangle. On one side there is a tiny little notch still there, but it will get covered up, so no worries.

Next, I cut out a bunch of 8" x 2" pieces of light cardstock. By light cardstock I mean it's Very flexible, not as thick as regular cardstock and thicker than paper. The kind I get is from walmart and I use it to make my envelopes.

Next, I scored it down the middle at the 1" mark, folded over and defined the crease with my bone folder. The piece on the left shows the piece cut out (I did a lot at one time, I like that system of doing one part of a project at a time when mass producing something), and then the pieces on the right show them all nicely folded.

Next I used my tape runner and put it on both sides. Then attached one to each side so that the scrap paper will not fall out. In this picture the left side is not done, and the right it. I could have made it prettier with designer paper but I've got A LOT of these to make so white it was.

Here is one of my favourite papers to use. As you can see, there are lots of different sizes and now when I go to look for a piece they will all be together.

I then cut a piece of that paper at 4.5" x 2" and this will go onto the front of the file folder.

Here is that little label on the front of the file folder. I made it big like this so that when I am flipping through them, I can easily see what paper it is that I want.

Here is a look of what the papers look like inside the little folder. Now when I want to use a specific paper, I just need to take the folder out and dump the contents onto the table to see what size I will use.

And last, here are the ones I did last night and partly this morning. It's in a little portable file folder carrier. It will eventually go into either a filing cabinet or a small shelf thing that will be under the table whenever I get my craft nook finished.

I had so much fun making these cards. Got to try a new technique with water colouring and love that the flower image can be messy but still pretty, with the water colour you don't need to stay in the lines.

I'll be selling these cards if you like them. They are 3"x3" and come with a coordinating envelope. The colour of circle paper behind the flower may change slighty if I run out of that particular paper.

Day 17 ~ Bookmark I Thought Was Cool

Today's card is a bookmark. I saw this on a blog somewhere, but my favourites got wiped and I can't find it, so if I ever do, I'll make a post about it.

I handstamped the daisy on the dark blue paper and the little bee is a $1.50 stamp I got at Michael's last night, I couldn't resist even though I'm not supposed to have a craft budget. I ran out of rubber stamp ink and got absorbed into the $1.50 stamp display. /looks innocent

Again today I went into my baby stash and found this baby vellum overlay and added it to this card. I used my martha stewart ribbon punch to make the ribbon holes and added a pretty white ribbon to the card. I think it's pretty and elegant. =D

Day 14 ~ Thank You!! With Flowers

This was the card I erased off the camera thinking I had it on the computer. I had fun with this one and I'm learning how to use different lettering that isn't mine.

I really like these flowers. They come in little pieces and you assemble them however you like. I put them on popups and Had fun adding a ribbon to it. The blue paper with the flowers was handstamped using one of my favourite daisy stamps.

Got the white jelly pen out again today and oh do I like this card. Very simple yet pretty. The picture doesn't do it justice with how bright the colours pop. Anyone else have troubles photographing purple? It just doesn't come out the right way. /shrug ... oh well, you get the idea.

I learned a lot while making this card. I figured out I don't like doing eyelets in a layer that small and ribbon is a bit difficult to work with when you're not making it into a knot. I was looking out into the yard today that is covered in snow and was really missing the grass. So, I made a cute card that has grass on it. =D I can't wait for spring to get here and the snow to go bye bye!!

I just adore the little bow on this card. Wow, it's been 2 days of cards since I have used my white jelly pen, I'm shocked with myself.... hmmm I need to use it now. lol

I went on a little bit of a binge last night. I made the fluffy cat card first and liked it so much that I needed to make more like it. So.... I made 4 cards, aren't they adorable??

Day 6 ~ revisit

I found a great tip online about embossing your stamped image before colouring to prevent bleeding inks and here is my little cupid and a couple other valentiney stamps I have acquired. I read that you could also use staz-on ink, I'll have to try that later as it's not in the budget. So, look how awesome these valentine's look!!

Card 5 ~ Happy Polka Dot Birthday Card

My card for today has some of my favourite things on and in it. I really like the 3 papers used on the front of the card. I have used them for many things in the past. One of them is even in my scrapbooking nook accessory holder as a back drop.

I LOVE my white gelly pen and polkadots. /giggle I also really adore anything cupcake related. I like to eat them, look at them, make them.... mmmm cupcakes. Hmmm think I might go make me some cupcakes now!! /drool

I just LOVE this stamp!!! Isn't it the cutest thing, look at that A-dorable cupid!!! Can you believe he was only $1.50 at Michael's?? I have a feeling I'll be using him for a lot of projects. hehe.

Yesterday's (the 3rd) Cards:
So, I made up these cards as a demo for my mama's forum to sell on. They are 3"x3" and have a little heart stamped on the inside of them. I'll be selling them 10 for $2.00 (canadian). They can be all one colour or an assortment of the 6 different colours.

Today's Cards:
I enjoyed making the little cards so much that I decided to make little Valentine's. These are 3"x3" and are just a single sheet of cardstock (instead of folded over like the card) The pink one in the middle is how the back will look. I'll be selling these 10 for $1.50 (canadian). They would be really cute for a class valentine.

Cards 1 and 2

So, here are the cards for the 1st and 2nd of the month. The first is for one of AiAi's little friends named Chloe. She just turned 2 yesterday (sunday the 3rd) and this is the card I made her. She is a girly girly and loves pink, her dollies and chasing Aizen around to get him to play. The card was a big success and Chloe loved the little cupcake on the front, she kept saying "Yum!" when she would see the card. hehe

Here is the card I made for the 2nd. Click on it to make it bigger. It doesn't have an intended home yet.... so if you'd like it, I'd be happy to sell it to you. =D

365 Challenge

Hi there!!! I'm Dee (happily admitted craft a holic) !!!!

Welcome to yet another one of my blogs. I'm starting this one today because I want to share my 365 Card Challenge for this year. It's very similar to the 365 scrapbooking challenge where you make a scrapbook page each day about what it happening that day. Last year I did this challenge with making my hats for sick kids hospital. This year I will be doing this challenge with both cards and hats!!

So, enjoy and let me know if you are doing a challenge like this as well.
